Marie Claire is Lusby Law's first Associate Attorney. She joined the firm in August 2019 after she had finished studying and taking the North Carolina Bar Exam. She was sworn into the North Carolina Bar October 2019 at the Wilson County Superior Court, by the Honorable Judge Boyette. Originally, Marie Claire hails from Chimney Rock, NC, a small town in the Appalachian Mountains. She grew up working in her family's general store, Bubba O'Leary's, and still encourages everyone she meets to take a mountain get-away and to visit her folks. Marie Claire attended UNC Chapel Hill for undergraduate where she double majored in English and Political Science and minored in Hispanic Studies. She then went on to law school in Washington, DC at American University's Washington College of Law. Upon graduation she moved back to her home state and settled in Raleigh where she lives with her fiancé. Currently, Marie Claire's focus is with our criminal law practice. She defends cases in Wilson County District, Superior, and Juvenile court. She chose the path of a criminal defense attorney because she is passionate about defending citizens' rights and she thrives in the courtroom. She will fight for your rights and work to get the best deal for her clients. Marie Claire is successful because she understands the delicate balance of negotiations, but also has the competitive spirit that pushes her to excel.
